Last updated: November 22, 2025

This Privacy Policy explains how Inyun AI ("Inyun," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information about you when you use our products and services, including our website, waitlist and onboarding flows, SMS messaging, AI chat experience, and any other services we provide (collectively, the "Services").

By using the Services, you agree to the collection and use of your information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you should not use the Services.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information about you in three main ways: (a) information you provide directly, (b) information collected automatically, and (c) information from third parties.

1.1 Information you provide to us

We collect information you choose to share when you interact with the Services, including:

  • Contact details: such as your name, college email address, and phone number.
  • Profile and onboarding information: such as your date of birth, college affiliation, LinkedIn profile, availability, preferences, and answers to waitlist or onboarding questions.
  • Photos: photos you upload as part of your profile or onboarding.
  • Communications: content of messages you send to us (for example, support emails) and your interactions with the AI chat, including via SMS.
  • Feedback: responses to surveys, feedback forms, or product research.

1.2 Information we collect automatically

When you use the Services, we may automatically collect certain information, such as:

  • Usage information: details about your interactions with the Services, such as pages or screens viewed, features used, and the time, date, and duration of your visits.
  • Device and technical information: including your browser type, operating system, device type, language settings, and approximate location based on IP address.
  • Cookies and similar technologies: we may use cookies and similar technologies to remember your preferences, understand how you use the Services, and improve your experience. You can adjust cookie settings via your browser or device controls.

1.3 Information from third parties

We may receive information about you from third parties, such as:

  • LinkedIn or other platforms: if you provide or connect a profile link, we may collect the URL and basic public profile details associated with that account.
  • Service providers: such as analytics, messaging, and hosting providers that collect or process information on our behalf.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for purposes including:

  • Providing and improving the Services: to operate the waitlist and onboarding flows, manage your account, power AI-based matching and chat, and improve the overall experience.
  • Communications: to send you service-related messages, such as verification codes, onboarding updates, AI chat replies, and notifications about encounters or product changes.
  • Safety, security, and integrity: to monitor for abuse, fraud, or other harmful activity; to protect the safety of users; and to enforce our Terms of Service.
  • Research and analytics: to understand how users interact with the Services, improve features and UX, and develop new products and offerings.
  • Legal and compliance: to comply with applicable laws, regulations, and legal processes, and to respond to lawful requests or protect our legal rights.

Where required by law, we rely on your consent or on our legitimate interests (such as providing and improving the Services, ensuring safety, and conducting research) as the legal basis for processing your information.

3. How We Use AI and Your Data

Inyun uses AI models to help understand your inputs and generate responses, suggestions, and matches. When you interact with the AI, your messages, profile information, and context may be sent to AI providers and processed to generate outputs and improve quality, safety, and performance.

We aim to avoid using personally identifiable details more than necessary and may de-identify or aggregate data when possible. We also apply safety measures and policies to reduce the risk of harmful or inappropriate AI-generated content, though we cannot guarantee that all outputs will be accurate or appropriate.

4. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information as follows:

  • Service providers: with vendors and partners who perform services on our behalf, such as hosting, analytics, email and SMS delivery, cloud storage, and AI processing. These providers are authorized to use your information only as necessary to provide services to us.
  • Partners and campus collaborators: in some cases, we may collaborate with campus organizations or other partners. If we share information with them in a way that identifies you, we will do so only with your consent or as permitted by law.
  • Legal, safety, and protection: when we believe disclosure is reasonably necessary to comply with law, regulation, or legal process; to respond to lawful requests; or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Inyun, our users, or others.
  • Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of all or a portion of our business, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to applicable law.
  • Aggregated or de-identified data: we may share or publish aggregated or de-identified information that cannot reasonably be used to identify you (for example, statistics about product usage).

5. SMS, Notifications, and Communications

If you provide your phone number, we may send you SMS messages related to your account, waitlist status, onboarding, AI chat, and other service-related updates. Message frequency may vary depending on your engagement. Message and data rates may apply.

You can opt out of SMS at any time by replying STOP (or a similar recognized opt-out keyword). After you opt out, you may still receive essential, non-promotional messages as permitted by law (for example, important service or safety notices). For help, you may reply HELP or contact us at our support email.

You may also receive emails related to account verification, onboarding, or product updates. Where required, we will obtain your consent before sending certain types of communications, and you can unsubscribe by following the instructions in the email or contacting us.

6. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Services, fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, and comply with legal obligations (such as tax, accounting, or reporting requirements), resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

We may retain aggregated or de-identified information for longer periods, as it cannot reasonably be linked back to you.

7. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information from loss, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. However, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Your Choices and Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information, such as the right to access, correct, or delete your data, or to object to or restrict certain types of processing.

You can exercise some of these choices directly by:

  • Updating information you provide to us during onboarding.
  • Opting out of SMS by replying STOP, or unsubscribing from certain emails via the links provided.
  • Adjusting your browser or device settings to manage cookies and similar technologies.

You may also contact us using the details in the Contact Us section below to make a request regarding your data. We may ask you to verify your identity before responding, and certain requests may be limited by applicable law.

9. International Transfers

Inyun may process and store information in countries other than the country where you are located, including in the United States. These countries may have different data protection laws than your own. Where required, we take steps to ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place for such transfers in accordance with applicable law.

10. Children and Teenagers

The Services are intended for users who are at least 17 years old (or the age of majority in their jurisdiction, if higher). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 17. If we discover that we have collected information from a child under 17 without appropriate consent, we will take steps to delete that information.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top and may provide additional notice where required by law. Your continued use of the Services after the updated policy becomes effective constitutes your acceptance of the changes. If you do not agree to the updated policy, you should stop using the Services.
